Jazz Point Ibiza 2025 – A Celebration of Jazz Excellence

Join us from October 16th to 19th, 2025, as we celebrate the 6th edition of Jazz Point Ibiza—a unique meeting point for some of the most revered names in international jazz and a vibrant local music scene. This year's festival promises to be our most powerful edition yet, featuring 6 live concerts, masterclasses, and a rich blend of musical cultures across some of Ibiza’s most iconic venues.

Tal Cohen (piano) – A bold and lyrical voice in modern jazz, fusing Middle Eastern rhythms with rich harmonic sophistication

Israeli–Australian pianist Tal Cohen, now based in the United States, fuses the rich language of jazz with the deep pulse of Middle Eastern rhythms, crafting an exciting and distinctive sound. A winner of the Barry Harris National Piano Competition at the Detroit Jazz Festival, as well as the prestigious Freedman Fellowship at the Sydney Opera House, Cohen has made his mark on stages worldwide, from Dizzy’s Club in New York to performances with the Mingus Big Band and drum legend Billy Drummond.

His critically acclaimed album Gentle Giants, featuring Robert Hurst and Greg Osby, was awarded 4 stars by DownBeat magazine and named one of the best jazz albums of 2018. Cohen’s trio offers an inspired, fearless approach, balancing complexity and honest emotion in every phrase. With appearances alongside Terence Blanchard, Randy Brecker, and Joe Lovano, as well as performances at major festivals from Detroit to Melbourne and Guatemala, Tal Cohen is a true ambassador of modern jazz, ready to thrill audiences with his dynamic, imaginative artistry.

Doug Weiss (USA): Renowned bassist with decades of experience alongside jazz legends

Born in Chicago and musically raised in New York, Doug Weiss is one of the most respected bassists in modern jazz. Over a career spanning more than three decades, he has collaborated with legends such as Al Foster, Lee Konitz, Chris Potter, Brian Blade, and Lizz Wright, among many others. Weiss was a longtime member and musical director of the Al Foster Quartet, touring globally and recording extensively. His playing is marked by lyrical phrasing, impeccable timing, and an intuitive sense of ensemble interplay. Beyond performance, Weiss is a dedicated educator, having taught at institutions like The New School, SUNY Purchase, and the Jazz Institut Berlin. Now based in Berlin and Brussels, he continues to shape the jazz landscape through performance, composition, and mentorship.

Ricky Ford (USA): Iconic tenor saxophonist and former Charles Mingus band member

The legendary Boston saxophonist Ricky Ford who played with the master Charles Mingus in the late seventies
and retains a youthful verve, served by a majestic sound. A unique stylist, he has showcased his invention and his musicality in an abundant and eclectic discography featuring Roy Hargove, Abdullah Ibrahim, McCoy Tyner, Sonny Stitt, Jaki Byard… Scenic monster, Ricky Ford always surprises with his indomitable energy. A colossus saxophone to see live.

Eric Person (USA): A leading voice in creative jazz on alto sax and flute

A vital force in creative jazz for over four decades, Eric Person brings his bold, expressive voice on alto saxophone and flute to this year’s festival. Celebrated for his adventurous spirit and deep musicality, Person has performed with giants like Dave Holland, McCoy Tyner, and the World Saxophone Quartet. As a composer and bandleader, he shines on acclaimed recordings like Rhythm Edge, blending sophistication, soul, and daring improvisation. With a sound that’s both powerful and poetic, Eric Person is an artist who always delivers an unforgettable live experience.

Omar Kabir (USA): Versatile trumpeter with roots in jazz, Latin, and Afro-Caribbean music

Omar Kabir is a dynamic American trumpeter known for his powerful and expressive voice across jazz, Latin, and Afro-Caribbean music. In the last decade, he has performed with David Murray, William Cepeda’s Afro-Rican Jazz, Morris Goldberg’s Ojoyo (Safro-Jazz), and Hugh Ragin’s Trumpet Ensemble. His past collaborations include the Cecil Taylor Orchestra, Charlie Haden’s Liberation Music Orchestra, Jimmie Heath and Jimmy Owens Big Bands, Liquid Soul, Groove Collective, and Tabou Combo, as well as freelance work with numerous salsa groups on trumpet and trombone. Kabir was musical director for Cirque du Soleil in Germany and an original cast member of Fame: The Musical.

Marc Miralta (drums) – A masterful and multifaceted drummer from Barcelona, blending global percussion with jazz sophistication on stages worldwide

Born in Barcelona, drummer Marc Miralta is one of Spain’s most versatile and internationally respected jazz musicians. With roots in classical percussion and a mastery of tabla, cajón, and vibraphone, Miralta built a broad musical foundation before refining his jazz artistry at Berklee College of Music in Boston.

He has performed at leading jazz festivals and clubs across Europe, North America, South America, Africa, and the Middle East, sharing stages with legends like Pat Metheny, Gary Burton, Steve Lacy, Paquito D’Rivera, Tete Montoliu, Art Farmer, Mark Turner, Joshua Redman, Lee Konitz, and Sílvia Pérez Cruz.

As a bandleader and collaborator, Miralta has recorded more than 80 albums, including acclaimed work with OAM Trio, CMS Trio, and his New York Flamenco Reunion project. A powerful and imaginative voice on drums, Miralta continues to expand the language of jazz with every performance.

La José (Spain): Charismatic singer who fuses flamenco with jazz, soul, and world music

La Jose is a mestiza Roma singer-songwriter, daughter of a flamenco dance lover and a gitano father devoted to pure cante. She carries the past, present, and future in a vibrant, powerful, and colorful stage presence. With a strong, versatile voice and a captivating dance style, she leaves no one indifferent, shifting between registers with astonishing ease. Her music blends flamenco, jazz, soul, Iberian traditions, and influences from the Middle East and North Africa into a chameleonic fusion that is uniquely hers. Her lyrics reflect recurring themes: womanhood, diversity, roots, human rights, love, freedom, and authenticity. On stage, she is joined by guitarist Luis Gallo, adding rich textures and effects to the experience.

Joan Carles Marí (drums) – A dynamic and versatile drummer from Ibiza, seamlessly blending jazz, flamenco, funk, and rock on stages around the world

Ibiza-born drummer Joan Carles Marí (1990) discovered his passion for drums at age twelve and has since built an impressive international career, performing across Korea, Canada, Chile, Russia, Azerbaijan, Hungary, England, Germany, Denmark, and throughout Spain.

A graduate in Contemporary and Jazz Music, Marí is acclaimed for his versatility and deep groove, moving fluidly from jazz to flamenco, funk, and rock. With over 30 recording credits, he is a highly sought-after session musician, having collaborated with renowned artists such as Rosalía, Albino Mbie, Martín Méndez (Opeth), Josiah Woodson (Beyoncé), Masa Kamaguchi, Su Terry, David Pastor, Carlos Sarduy, Enrique Oliver, Andrés Coll, and the Vallès Symphony Orchestra.

Brianna N. Flowers (USA/Spain): Dynamic drummer with deep experience across jazz and global percussion styles

Born in Atlanta, Georgia, Brianna N. Flowers is a powerhouse percussionist with over two decades of experience across classical, jazz, global, and marching traditions. Her dynamic career in the U.S. included collaborations with the Percussive Arts Society (PASIC) and performances with ensembles such as Timber Creek Independent, Florida State University’s Big 8 Drumline, the punk trio Teen Baby, and the jazz/hip-hop collective OrbitalSoul. Now based in Eivissa, Spain, she brings her vibrant energy and deep rhythmic knowledge to the European scene. Whether anchoring a groove or exploring new sonic textures, she is a vital presence in the island’s jam session circuit—and an exciting addition to this year’s festival lineup.

Muriel Grossmann Quartet (Ibiza): A pillar of spiritual jazz in Europe

Muriel Grossmann is a visionary saxophonist, composer, and multi-instrumentalist hailed as a leading voice in modern spiritual jazz. Her music merges post-Coltrane modal traditions with deep groove and sonic experimentation, crafting emotionally rich, transformative soundscapes. With acclaimed albums such as Devotion (Third Man Records) and The Light of the Mind (RR Gems), Grossmann continues to shape the language of 21st-century jazz through a singular artistic voice. Her strength truly comes to live on stage with her, where she delivers absolute fire with her long -standing Muriel Grossmann Quartet.

Abel Boquera on Hammond B3

Abel Boquera is one of the most outstanding Hammond organists on today’s European jazz scene. With over 15 years of experience, he is a permanent member of the iconic Muriel Grossmann Quartet, has led his own trio The Shu Shu’s, and has collaborated with renowned artists such as Ray Gelato and Seamus Blake. His style blends classic soul jazz with contemporary grooves, creating a unique sonic experience. Boquera has brought his music to international stages, including the prestigious Jazz à la Villette festival at the Philharmonie de Paris. His virtuosity, infectious groove, and passion for the Hammond B3 make him an essential presence at any jazz festival.

Radomir Milojkovic on guitar

Radomir Milojkovic is a Serbian guitarist based in Spain, known for his deep, spiritual sound in contemporary jazz. A key member of the Muriel Grossmann Quartet for over two decades, his style blends classic soul jazz with modal elements, blues, and psychedelia. He appears on acclaimed albums like Devotion (Third Man Records) and The Light of the Mind (RR Gems), and has performed at major international festivals such as Jazz à la Villette (Paris). A refined and unique voice in European jazz guitar.

Uros Stamenkovic on drums

Uros Stamenkovic is a Serbian-canadian drummer known for his energetic groove and spiritual depth in contemporary jazz. A key member of the Muriel Grossmann Quartet since 2014, he has shaped the group’s sound on acclaimed albums such as Devotion (Third Man Records, 2023) and The Light of the Mind (RR Gems, 2024). Drawing inspiration from legends like Elvin Jones, his playing stands out for its rhythmic sensitivity and atmospheric power. Stamenkovic has performed on major international stages, including Jazz à la Villette at the Philharmonie de Paris.

Andrés Coll (Ibiza): Marimba virtuoso blending jazz, classical, and folk traditions

Andrés Coll, born 2000 in Ibiza, is a multifaceted vibraphonist who amalgamates sharp and broad musical sense, virtuoso playing skills and stoic commitment to art. From his childhood as a loyal member of a local folklore group, he became conscious of the deep and broad origins of his native music. Coll discreetly matured to an investigative player and composer dedicated to the cross-sum of primigenius music, folklore, Bach, Bartók, contemporary music, modern jazz and free improvisation. His open mind, sense of quality and no fuss attitude make him a frequent and most welcome partner of the established, yet often disclosed musical elite of like-minded top artists worldwide.

Big Band Ciutat d’Eivissa: Performing special arrangements of Muriel Grossmann’s work

The Big Band Ciutat d’Eivissa, directed by trombonist and arranger Vicent Tur, is one of the most active and representative jazz ensembles on the island. This year at Jazz Point Ibiza, they will present a special program dedicated to the music of Muriel Grossmann, performed in collaboration with her quartet and featuring original arrangements by Vicent Tur. A unique fusion of contemporary jazz and the powerful sound of the Big Band.
