Hymns.
It’s not necessary to have hymns at a catholic wedding ceremony, but if your friends and family are good singers and know their hymns then it’s great to involve them in your special day. However it is important to keep the reverence of the occasion so if you do choose not to have hymns then it’s nice to include a religious solo instead. Please ask for help as there are some beautiful religious , classical and worship songs to choose from.
We recommend that all couples meet with us to discuss their music so we can give the best possible advice to make your wedding perfect. If it is not possible to meet we can discuss it via e mail and we will be happy to send demos. Please note; not all our repertoire is available on mp3 demo.

NB For Anglican blessing ceremonies the priest likes one or two hymns to be included into the service.Below are a selection of well known Anglican hymns but we can do any in the book!
Jerusalem
Bind us together Lord
I vow to thee my country(alternative wedding lyrics)
Give me oil in my lamp(sing Hosana)
This little light of mine
Amazing Grace
Morning has broken
Praise my soul the king of Heaven
How great thou art
Lord of all hopefulness
All things bright and beautiful

Legal Paperwork

Once you have provisionally booked your wedding date with me you can start on the paperwork. This is done by visiting your local catholic priest and letting him know of your intentions to marry in Ibiza. All the paperwork must be done in your country of residence. So it is your priest that must prepare you for the marriage and complete all the necessary paperwork . You will be asked to attend a marriage course and to provide several documents such as birth certificates and babtism certificates. If one of you is not catholic then the requirements may be slightly different. Some of the forms only last 6 months so don’t start the paperwork too early. Your priest can advise you on these details as they can vary.

Please ask your priest and Bishop to print all information clearly, as there has been mistakes made in the past, when the Bishop’s secretary has not been able to decipher names of towns etc…

FAQ

-One of the documents that you must provide is called ‘freedom to marry’ certificate. This is obtained from the department of foreign affairs.

A catholic wedding ceremony in Spain is also recognized by civil law so sometime after the ceremony I will obtain an international certificate of marriage from the registry office and send it to you. The priest that marries you will also inform your diocese that you have been married in his church in Ibiza. The marriage document that is signed by you both at the altar stays in the churches books. The priest then gives me a notification of the marriage to obtain a civil document from the Local authorities. This will be sent to you by registered post as your legal marriage certificate.

Once you have all your paperwork ready your priest will send it to your bishop. He will then send the necessary documents to the bishop here in Ibiza .When they arrive the church here will be notified and the wedding can go ahead. This all takes a few months but the post can let us down so leave enough time for delays!

Getting Ready...

When you arrive on the island for the big day I will arrange a meeting and rehearsal with the priest which I will also attend to sort out any problems or answer any queries you may have.I will rehearse the ceremony with you and your wedding party so that you are clear on what to expect on the day.
For the preparation of the order of service you will be sent the layout of the ceremony either with Full Mass for Catholic couples , or Without mass for mixed religion couples. You will need to choose one or two bible readings, a responsorial psalm ,The Gospel and the prayers of the Faithful(bidding prayers).
Some couples ask about the candle ceremony. This is a big tradition in the States and Ireland and priests on the island don’t mind it being done. It basically involves the lighting of two individual candles at the beginning of the service symbolizing two separate lives. After the marriage rite when you have become husband and wife you go up to the altar together with your candles and light the unity candle which symbolizes two people becoming one.
The music accompanying the ceremony is performed by my husband and I. We have a vast repertoire of songs and instrumentals which are accepted by the priests. The church’s organ or our keyboards can be used. The churches of San Miquel ,San Jose San Carlos, San Jose ,Puig de Misa and San Agustine also have pianos.

Drinks can also be arranged outside the church after the ceremony. The drinks are supplied by the local bars or caterers and I take care of the rest.
You may even decide to have a guitarist or keyboard player perform whilst your guests have a drink and The photographer is busy with the photos

As well as music in the church we can supply music for your reception.
